R. M Pyles Boys Camp is a not for profit organization dedicated to building pride, self-confidence, leadership and a desire for each boy to reach his potential. We do this through a safe and secure, fun and exciting, summer camp experience and winter follow up program.
Most of our highly trained staff are former campers themselves and because of their outstanding leadership abilities were asked to become part of our staff. Most are college students who grew up in camp and have first hand knowledge of the impact that our camp can have on our boys’ lives.
Besides having been at camp for several years and knowing the program inside and out, our staff participates in an extensive training program. Our Directors along with specialists in staff training, run our intense training program.
Your son is in for what could be the best two weeks of his life. He will be placed in a group of 6 or 7 other boys his age and cared for by our counselors. We have a full range of activities including sports, horseback riding, archery, crafts, nature, fishing, ropes/initiative course and a fabulous five-day backpack trip into the spectacular Golden Trout Wilderness area.
Each night a campfire is held and the last full day culminates in our own very exciting Olympic Games. It is fast paced and great fun.
The Camp is located at the 5,500’ elevation in the beautiful Sequoia National Park 60 miles from Porterville and 100 miles northeast of Bakersfield.
There is no fee to attend our camp
Once your son is committed to coming to camp, we will send you forms to complete including a health form to be filled out by a physician. You will receive transportation and clothing information as your date for camp gets closer.
For additional information or questions, please feel free to call our office at 661-294-1394 or toll free 877-RMPYLES.
And finally, a letter from one of our parents that we think sums up what R.M. Pyles Boys Camp is all about:
“Your camp has changed my son greatly. He’s willing to go to any length to do what he has to do to be a responsible individual. I am very proud of him. Thank you from the depths of my heart”
We look forward to seeing your son at camp.
